24 Years and 14 Days Old

Many things had happened since 14 days ago. I had very wild weekdays and fun weekends!

My older brother got married on 4th of June 2011. The marriage took place in Kota Kuala Muda, Kedah and Kuala Kangsar, Perak. I had travel to Penang from Kuala Lumpur with my sisters on 2nd of June. Slept at our father shoplot and then move to a homestay on the next day. Back in KL on 5th of June. Phew.. What a long journey...

From 11-12th June, I had attend 27th Association of Malaysian Optometrist (AMO) Annual Grand Meeting (AGM) and dinner. A very serious event indeed. The AGM was held at Traders Hotel, Penang. Yup, travel to Penang again. Many issues had been discussed. All of the issues were very important to enhanced the optometry profession. By the end of the meeting, I had been appointed as an exco member for AMO. A very heavy responsibility. I will do my best for the job and hoping for a great year for AMO.

More are coming my ways this June. I hope I am capable to undertake all of them. Work hard. Pray hard.

Yup. More works ahead. Get better. Stronger.

Work Harder Please

Yup. I need to work harder than it is. I don't think that what I am doing right now is enough for me to graduate by end of this year.

And here is the plan for next week (I will print this list for a reminder):

1. Submit paper to Clnical and Experimental Optometry or other journals (Perhaps Documenta Ophthlmologica will be good).
2. Submit ethics application to Faculty of Health Sciences.
3. Write a paper on my research.
4. Claim the grant for my expenses.
5. Write report for the Excellent Fund.
6. Reading Multifocal Electroretinogram (mfERG) and Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) manuals.
7. Improved on research proposal to submit to Institute of of Postgraduate Studies (IPSis) after DRP, Defense of Research Proposal (I got 2 from 5 rating on the defense).
8. Communicate with Dr Stuart G. Coupland on my research and also on my training at University of Ottawa Eye Institute.
9. Write paperwork on my proposed training at Canada.
10. Furnished my logbooks (IPSis Logbook and AP Dr Chen Logbook).
11. Liased with Dr Lim Kian Seng from International Specialist Eye Centre (ISEC) Mid Valley on my research.
12. Write an abstract for 18th Asia Pacific Optometry Conference (APOC).
13. Anything else I forgot? Hmmm... 

Hope to get half of this work finish by next week. My dateline: 29 April 2011.

UiTM Optometry Seminar: Optometry & Industry

UiTM Optometry Seminar organized by UiTM Optometry Department will take place on 19 April 2011. Below are the details:

• Date: 19th April 2011 (Monday)
• Time: 7.30am - 5.30pm
• Venue: DK1, FSK7, UiTM Puncak Alam, Selangor.

Activities include Keynote Address by AP Dr Jeff Hovis from University of Waterloo, Canada, presentation by speakers from Ministry of Health and Malaysian Optical Council, demonstration and knowledge-sharing by representatives from various companies in optical industry and other activities including Opening & Closing Ceremony.

This seminar will likely to fulfill comprehensive objectives in tackling issues of Optometry especially in Colour Vision, Optometry-Industry relationship, knowledge sharing among participants, specific issues pertaining to UiTM Optometry recognition in government (public sector) and private sector plus increased significant amount of information for the students (e.g. Optometry students) as part of outside-classroom initiative.

InsyaALLAH, this seminar will bring tremendous benefits not only to the students knowledge pool but also to the experience of having attending a great seminar organized by calibre individuals within Department of Optometry, UiTM.

April! And I'm not a FOOL~

It's the month of April. A month with lots of stuff will happen. Including my presentation for defence research proposal. Finger crossed.

And since 2 weeks ago, lots of things happened. Most of my time taken since last 2 weeks for the preparation of research defense proposal. Plus, other activities involving my master and my research.

I had sent Exploratory Research Grant Scheme (ERGS) application. Completed. Currently, underway to do correction for the Fundamental Reasearch Grant Scheme (FRGS). Incomplete. Next week maybe.

I had treated a guest to my humble apartment. A guest from far far away that come to Puncak Alam, the top of the world! Haha.. My friend from Kelantan. Knew him since Penang Matriculation College (KMPP) time. Come overnight to Puncak Alam for UiTM Young Lecturer Scheme (YLS) scholarship interview on Tuesday. Also entertained a friend of him on Wednesday. Both are currently doing Master in University Science Malaysia (USM), Kubang Kerian Campus. USMKK.

Well, I hope my treat was good. As I always try hard to give my best to my guests. I always consider them, who come over to my place, as very important person. So, whoever wanna come to my place, come on and lets us have fun together! Ahaha.. ^___^

Alright, I already mentioned about YLS. YLS or in Malay, Skim Tenaga Pengajar Muda (TPM). Well, I also undergo interview together with my friend from Kelantan. Not exactly together though as I had applied for the Optometry Department and he applied for Nutrition & Dietetic Department. Anyway, my interview went very well. I never thought that I am that good with interviewee. But, I did gave my best. Hopeful. Full of hope to get TPM. Because I need them to pay for my tuition fees.

And, here are my activities for the next couple of days (disturb me if you can):

1. Attending 4th UiTM Optometry Students' Association (OPTIMIST) Annual Grand Meeting - Not invited but still want to go. =p
2. Working on Saturday. Vision screening by Vision Care Optometry Sdn Bhd at Dewan PRT, Blok 2, Desa Mentari, Petaling Jaya. From 10am to 6pm. Please come over if you are around there.
3. Settle the ERG issues with supplier. Monday afternoon due date.
4. Mock proposal presentation on Tuesday in front of my supervisor and colleagues.
5. FRGS submission deadline by Thursday, 7th April 2011.
6. Submit ethical consideration proposal to UiTM Research Ethic Committe. ASAP!

Huhu.. Hope to get all of these done by next week~ A______A

I Try to Help You but You Don't Listen...

Yup. I already voiced out the problems of the company publicly. And I am happy and satisfied with what I did. I never regret nor ashamed. Those who thought that I am a loser, please think again. Maybe you are the loser.Remain in the company means you remains in hardship and low-status. The company only manipulate you but you willingly oblige to them as they pay you more. Well, not that much though. Others can pay more lol.

And please don't compare me with your situation. I am a student now. I had low cost of living. My meal per day cost me less than RM8. My apartment rent is less than RM200/month including electricity, water and maintenance bills. From day to day, I got free foods from events organized by others. My car was bought by cash. My travel including toll, petrol and others cost me less than RM200 per month. Compare all these to your conditions. I can live with my income now as I am a student. But can you live your life with money less than RM3500 per month? Go figure it yourself.

Yes. I did locum at places. And I do locum not due to money. I am not money-oriented person. Not blind-folded by money. I do locum just to sharpen my skills plus to get my free time pass by with a good cause. I help people when I able to solve their vision problems. That's why I do locum.

For my friends, I still consider you as my friends. How sour and hard it is to me when you bullshit me, I still accept you as we are classmates for 4 years. I know you capable to understand my message. Hoping you to go explore your world better than live within the current mean which limit your true abilities. GO GURLS!!

Locum~! and Updates!

Currently... as I'm writing.. I am at Focus Point Bandar Baru Bangi. Doing locum here...

And its Sunday! Yes, I'm working on Sunday!

There are a few things that had not finished yet but need to be submitted by tomorrow morning to Assoc Prof Dr Chen Ai Hong:

1) Fundamental Research Grant Scheme (FRGS) proposal and Exploratory Research Grant Scheme (ERGS) proposal. Total proposed researchs budget: RM400000.

2) My Master research proposal. Due to be presented this coming April.

3) A paper for publication. I am going to submit to international journal. Hopefully, the paper can get through. InsyaALLAH.

Aite~ Need to get back to work. ^____________^

Post Conferences & Procrastination

Definitely getting lazier after attended the KL Vision 2011 & FRHSNC. Lots of things haven't do and here I am writing a blog post about how lazy I am.

Some of my way to procrastinate:
1) Facebooking.
2) Reading newspapers.
3) Reading comics.
4) Watching Youtube + Download the videos.
5) Play games.
6) Watching TV.
7) Lots of other ways... Too many to mention as I procrastinate while writing this post~

Its Already February!!

Hummpphhh.... Nearly 1 month since I last wrote my entry in this blog.
Lots had happen. Not that interesting.

Most interesting thing that happened was my participation as Poster Presenter (is this true??!) at 10th International Low Vision Conference in KLCC. Woah! Great!

And also participation in First Regional Health Science and Nursing Conference at SACC.

Ok. Since last month, I found out that I'm winning the war. Why? Figure it out yourself. ^____^

As A Postgraduate Student In UiTM Puncak Alam

Very exciting! And very tiring!

Lots of things had happened since last week.

1) Attending Research Methodology Courses @ UiTM Shah Alam.
2) Submit abstract presentation & confirming the attendance to 10th Internation Low Vision Conference @ Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.
3) Finished the paper writing for publication.
4) Move from Subang 2 to Puncak Alam Fasa 3.
5) Sent Excellence Fund Half-Year Report to Research Management Institute.

Update on My Life

Here's the updates:

1) I'm not working with Utama Optometrist Sdn Bhd anymore. I love my work @ Utama Optometrist Taman Tun Dr Ismail but I really hate their management. I hope the management change their mindset. They should take care of their employees instead of taking care of their own @@S.  Shame on them.

2) I continue my study. Doing Master in Health Science (Research) at Faculty of Health Sciences, UiTM Puncak Alam, Selangor. Currently in my second semester. Very difficult!

3) Eventhough I had resigned with Utama, I'm not unemployed. As part of my full-time postgraduate research programme, I am working as a tutor in Optometry Department. My tutoring involved 16 hours of lab works and so on in a week. UiTM pays me RM25 per hour. That's a lot!

4) And as to earn extra money, I also do locum as Optometrist in Visi Optometry Sdn. Bhd. The pay is good. Thanks to En. Sarulakmal Md Tasrib!

That's all my updates for now. It almost 2 years of dormant activity in my blog. I think I should do more in terms of updating the blog. Well, blog is a way to express our point of view, don't you agree?
